|
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today released the latest episode of “DEC Does What?!”, the bi-weekly podcast that features conversations with DEC experts about the agency’s wide-ranging efforts to protect New Yorkers and the environment. Episode Five: “Half-Century of Public Service”—spotlights the five-decade career of DEC legend Nancy Lussier, longtime Director of the Division of Management and Budget Services. During the episode, Nancy joins hosts Interim Commissioner Sean Mahar and Chief of Staff Erica Ringewald for an in-depth look at her 50 years of service with New York State and DEC and how the agency continues to improve operations to meet evolving needs to better assist DEC staff and the millions of New Yorkers DEC serves. Nancy highlights the agency’s embrace of new technologies while closely tracking the billions of dollars invested to protect New York’s land, water, and air, and communities. The bi-weekly podcast also features environmental news and DEC initiatives, including tips for New Yorkers to be prepared while enjoying the outdoors (Be Prepared, Hike Smart), reminders about respecting and protecting wildlife (Give Turtles a Break, and If You Care, Leave It There), and statewide efforts to combat aquatic invasive species and protect New York waterways (Clean, Drain, Dry).
