Who: State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Executive Deputy Commissioner Kenneth Lynch will host a celebration of New York’s “Trees for Tributaries,” or “Tribs,” 10^th anniversary by planting the program’s 100,000^th tree at Normanskill Farm in the city of Albany.

In 2016, DEC’s Trees for Tribs program planted nearly 30,000 native trees and shrubs along streams, engaging thousands of volunteers in tree-planting activities across the state. The trees help prevent erosion, increase flood water retention, improve wildlife and in-stream habitat, and protect water quality.

When: Monday, May 15, at 2:00 p.m.

Where: Normanskill Farm, Mill Road, Albany, NY

Directions: Normanskill Farm parking lot on Mill Rd. from Delaware Avenue heading south, turn left on Mill Road just before the bridge over the Normanskill Creek at the self-storage sign. Go past the parking lot – straight back until the community garden on right. Planting will occur past the garden on the left near the Normanskill.
