Outdoor Magazine Lists Whiteface Mountain as One of the Best Ski Resorts in the East

Sunday, Dec. 13, Come Dressed as Santa and Ski/Ride for Free

WILMINGTON, N.Y. --- More and more publications are coming to realize just how unique and special Whiteface Mountain, in Wilmington, N.Y. really is. The latest magazine to tout the Olympic mountain is Outside Magazine which listed it as one of the best ski resorts in the East, in its December 1, 2015 edition.

Thirteen eastern ski resorts were listed as “favorite ski hills in New York and New England.” Eight were from Vermont, two each from New Hampshire and Maine, but just one from New York; Whiteface Mountain.

The Outside Magazine article described Whiteface as “towering above the town of Lake Placid,” while also highlighting its vertical and big mountain terrain, glades and parks. It described the resort’s terrain as “weighted toward experts, but cruisers are accessible from the summit and there are beginner options, like Runner Up and Silver, closer to the base area.”

On Sunday, December 13, come celebrate the holiday season at Whiteface and ski and ride for free when dressed in a full Santa costume and participate in the Santa group photo. If you don’t have a Santa costume hanging in the closet, don’t worry you can still save 50% off a lift ticket when you donate a gently worn coat or new or unwrapped toy. The Boy Scouts will be on hand to collect the coats and toys and everything will be donated to the Christmas Bureau in Plattsburgh. These items will then be distributed to families in need in Essex, Franklin and Clinton counties.

Tis the season and Whiteface welcomes winter and the holidays. Since opening Thanksgiving Day, 100 snowguns have been laying snow for summit to base skiing on Little Whiteface.
