Electricians Recruit Apprentices

Pearl River, NY (September 18, 2013) -- USIS Electric, Inc., will conduct a recruitment from September 23, 2013 through October 4, 2013 for 16 electrician apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today.

Applications will be available at USIS Electric, Inc., 35 West Jefferson Avenue, Pearl River, NY, on Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Applications will be accepted during the recruitment period or until 160 applications have been issued, whichever comes first. Applications must be received no later than October 4, 2013.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Must have reliable transportation for class instruction.
  • Must be physically able to perform the work required as determined by  a signed statement of the following:
    • Ability to pull cable
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of material (pipe, boxes)
    • Ability to work on ladders up to 12 ft.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner.  Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status.  Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.  Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
