Supported by Governor Cuomo’s Adventure NY Initiative to Connect New Yorkers with Nature As part of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Adventure NY initiative, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will unveil new improvements at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery. The Salmon River Hatchery, the flagship of DEC’s 12 state fish hatcheries, produces nearly all of the fish for Lake Ontario stocking efforts, including 1.7 million Chinook salmon, 240,000 Coho salmon, 600,000 steelhead and 150,000 brown trout. The facility attracts up to 50,000 visitors annually. Who: DEC Executive Deputy Commissioner Ken Lynch and Regional Director Matt Marko will be joined by state and local elected officials and community partners at an event to unveil the improvements.
