The Lake Placid Olympic Museum Joins Smithsonian Magazine’s National Museum Day Live! Free Admission for All Participants

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- On Saturday, Sept. 28, the Lake Placid Olympic Museum located in the Olympic Center on Main Street, Lake Placid, N.Y., will open its doors free of charge along with over 1,400 other participating venues across the country for the ninth annual Museum Day Live! This immensely successful program will match the free admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C. - based facilities, encouraging learning and the spread of knowledge nationwide.

Museum Day Live! fulfills Smithsonian’s mission to make cultural education accessible to everyone. For one day only, the Lake Placid Olympic Museum will grant free access to visitors who download a Museum Day Live! ticket at Smithsonian.com/museumday. Last year’s event drew over 350,000 museum-goers, and this year’s Museum Day Live! is expected to attract close to 400,000 participants nationwide.

“We always enjoy the spirit of this event and the wonderful opportunity it offers to join museums across the country and open our doors to the public free of charge,” said Museum manager Alison Haas. “It gives everyone a chance to see Lake Placid’s Olympic history first hand.”

The Museum Day Live! Ticket is available to download at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday. Visitors who present the Museum Day Live! Ticket will gain free entrance for two at the Museum for one day only. One ticket is permitted per household, per email address.
