Road & Mountain Bikers Peddle into Wilmington June 3-4

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (May 17, 2017) --- Road and mountain cyclists have dusted off their bicycles after a long winter and are getting ready for the June 3-4, 2017 Tour of Wilmington Whiteface. The 7th annual Wilmington Whiteface 100K MTB opens the two-day long event, followed by Sunday’s 16th annual Whiteface Mountain Uphill Race. It’s anticipated that the weekend will bring in more than 1,000 cyclists, family members, volunteers and officials to the region.

WHAT: Tour of Wilmington Whiteface. Two days of cycling racing featuring the 69-mile long Wilmington Whiteface 100K MTB, a qualifier for the prestigious Leadville 100K MTB. The event begins and ends at Whiteface Mountain. This is followed by the 16th annual Whiteface Mountain Uphill Race, 11 miles of cycling to the summit of New York State’s fifth highest peak, Whiteface Mountain.

WHEN: June 3-4, 2017. The Wilmington Whiteface 100K MTB begins at 7 a.m., Saturday, while the Whiteface Mountain Uphill Race starts at 8 a.m., Sunday.

WHERE: Both races begin at the base of Whiteface Mountain, 5021 Route 86 Wilmington, NY 12997

WHO: More than 800 cyclists from across the eastern United States and Canada await the Tour of Wilmington Whiteface. Five-hundred, or more, riders make up the Wilmington Whiteface 100K MTB field, while 300-plus cyclists will race in the 16th annual Whiteface Mountain Uphill Race. Some will compete in both events.
