ADVISORY: MTA to Launch Smartphone App Pilot for Visually Impaired Bus Riders

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) officials today will launch a pilot program that allows visually impaired bus riders to use smartphones to receive audio navigation to bus stops and learn of arrival times and bus crowding. The project results from a partnership between the MTA, the Transit Innovation Partnership, NYC Dept. of Transportation and accessible technology company NaviLens. Users will conduct a live demonstration of the app during the event.
