Statement from MTA Chief Communications Officer Abbey Collins:

“As everyone knows and as the author makes clear in his own report, correlation does not establish causation. Contrary to these preliminary findings, which have not been published or peer-reviewed, subway ridership dropped precipitously beginning in early March with 100 percent service and later fell 90 percent to a new low while we have continued to run 75 percent of normal service. The subway continues to move the doctors, nurses, and first responders on the frontlines of this pandemic savings lives. This study is flawed – period.”
