NYS DELIVERING NEARLY 3000 FLAGS FOR MEMORIAL WATCHFIRE

AT NYS FAIRGROUNDS

 

Who:

New York State Office of General Services Commissioner RoAnn Destito
Joel Evans, Executive Deputy Director, NYS Division of Veterans' Affairs
Peter Bronstad, Board member, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 103 and Charles R. Johnson, US Army, Major, Retired

When:

Saturday, May 26
9:00 a.m. Flags loaded for delivery at NYS Office Building, Syracuse
9:30 a.m. Flags delivered to NYS Fairgrounds

Where:

Flags will be loaded onto a vehicle at the Senator John J. Hughes State Office Building, 333 East Washington Street in Syracuse at 9:00 a.m. They will then be delivered to the brown parking lot at the New York State Fairgrounds where they will be handed off at 9:30 a.m. to representatives of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 103.

What:

The Office of General Services, under Governor Cuomo’s direction, collected 2916 worn and tattered flags at drop-off locations statewide so that they can be properly retired. The flags will be delivered by Commissioner Destito and Joel Evans, to the State Fairgrounds so they can be disposed of as part of Memorial Watchfire hosted by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 103 on Sunday May 27.   Information on the Memorial Watchfire can be found here http://cnyvva103.org/watchfire.html
