Metro-North to Continue Weekend Substitute Bus Service Between New Canaan and Stamford From Weekend of July 29 Through Weekend of August 20

Service Change Will Accommodate New Canaan Branch Improvements

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that buses will replace trains on Metro-North’s New Canaan Branch on four weekends, beginning July 29-31, and continuing through the weekend of August 19-21. Substitute bus service on all weekends will begin after 10 p.m. on Fridays through the last train of the night on Sundays.  Westbound buses will operate 15-20 minutes earlier than scheduled trains. Customers should listen for announcements and check local or express bus service to their destination while boarding.

This summer weekend service change will help ensure the on-going reliability and safety of New Canaan Branch trains.  Metro-North work will include: replacing highway grade crossings at Largo Drive, Crescent Street, Glenbrook Road and Hoyt Street, cutting trees and brush along the line, welding track joints, and replacing worn rail.
