Camillus Man Wins $1,000,000 New York Powerball Prize

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The New York Lottery’s Gretchen Dizer today presented a $1,000,000 Powerball second prize from the April 13, 2013 drawing to Albert Totari of Camillus, Onondaga County.

Totari, 28, stopped at the C & C Mini Market on North Salina Street on Saturday morning, April 13 to buy his Quick Pick ticket for that evening’s Powerball drawing. Totari said he checked his ticket later that night and immediately knew he won.

Totari said, “I knew I won something, but I didn’t know how much.” When he found out the Powerball second prize was $1,000,000, he said, “I couldn’t believe it.  I always had a feeling I would make a lot of money, but I didn’t think it would be from winning the Lottery.” Totari said he barely slept the rest of the weekend knowing he was now a Lottery millionaire.

Totari claimed his winning ticket on Monday, April 15 at the Lottery’s Customer Service Center in Syracuse.  He will receive his $1,000,000 Powerball prize in one lump sum totaling $661,800 after required withholdings. Totari said he plans to buy a house with his winnings and to continue to play the Lottery often.

The winning numbers for the April 13 Powerball drawing were 10-12-31-56-57 and Powerball 33.

The New York Lottery contributed $101,319,966.04 in Lottery Aid To Education to school districts throughout Onondaga County during fiscal year 2011-2012.

About the New York Lottery

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education.  It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
