MTA Announces Local Service Restored in Brooklyn Following Minor Derailment

At 3:41 a.m. wheels derailed on the second car of an eight-car northbound train running on the n line approximately 1000 feet north of Atlantic Avenue station between Atlantic Avenue and DeKalb Avenue stations. The train was not in passenger service and there were no injuries. An investigation is underway into the cause and the train remains at the incident location.

Local service has been restored in Brooklyn at this time. We will continue to restore additional service, but customers should expect disruptions to morning rush hour service on the n,r,q,b and d lines in both directions.

  • b, d, n, q, and r service is running at reduced frequencies.
  • d service is operating on local tracks from 36 Street/4Av to Barclays Center, stopping at DeKalb Ave.
  • n service is operating on local tracks from 59 Street/4AV to Barclays Center, stopping at DeKalb Ave, then operating via the Manhattan Bridge to Canal Street.

Customers should consider using ‌2,‌ ‌3‌, ‌4‌ or 5‌ train service between Manhattan and Brooklyn as an alternative.

Updated customer service notifications with updated information regarding detours and service alternatives will be available on the MTA website, the MYmta app and social media.
