Elevator Constructors Recruit Apprentices |

Syracuse, NY (June 30, 2018) - The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for The International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local Union #62, will conduct a recruitment from August 1, 2018 through August 30, 2018 for one elevator/escalator constructor and modernizer apprentice, the New York State Department of Labor announced today. Applications can be completed online at any time during the recruitment period at www.neiep.org/careers.aspx. Applicants who do not have access to a computer may visit their local library or New York State Department of Labor Career Center. Applicants must take and pass the Elevator Industry Aptitude Test. A testing fee of $25 must be paid at the time of testing. The payment must be in the form of a postal money order or bank certified check (no cash or personal checks will be accepted). Please note, you may request that this fee be waived. Fee waivers will be approved upon showing verifiable proof of financial need. A photo ID will be required on the day of testing. Must take a tool assessment designed to assess knowledge of basic tools and their use, as well as basic measuring skills. Scores are part of evaluation. The Committee requires that applicants:

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities. |
