State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine today announced the following events running from April 25- 28 at the New York State Fairgrounds:

One thousand dancers will fill the Horticulture Building on Saturday, stepping to the notes of Irish music.  The Central New York Irish Feis begins at 8:30 a.m. It’s an annual competition for Irish Dance teams, who compete in various styles of dancing, including Jig, Reel, Hornpipe and more.  Musicians also compete.  Admission is free.

Nearly 250 RVs will fill the Fair’s Brown Lot from Thursday to Sunday, for the semi-annual Camping World RV Show and Sale.  Michael Whiteman, General Manager of Camping World, said that people will be able to see and buy everything from a $2,000 pop-up camper to a motorhome worth $320,000.  Travel trailers and 5^th wheels are popular choices these days, he said.  Admission is free.

Students from all over the state converge on the Fairgrounds from Tuesday to Friday for the state conference of SkillsUSA, taking place in a variety of buildings, including the Center of Progress Building.  They will compete in dozens of career-related categories, from Animal Careers to Welding.  SkillsUSA seeks to create world-class workers, leaders and citizens.

The Syracuse Chapter of the Professional Horseman’s Association holds the Syracuse PHA Horse Show from Thursday to Sunday in the Coliseum.  Competitions begin daily at 9 a.m. for the more than 300 horses and riders competing in Hunter and Jumper classes.  Admission is free.

Also, “Suds: The Rocking 60’s Musical,” continues its run in the Empire Theater, telling the story of a young girl’s search for love through the music of the early rock n’ roll era.  Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors and students.  Group discounts are available through the show’s website, thetalentco.com.

In addition to the annual New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious horse and livestock shows.
