Service Changes are Part of Subway Action Plan, Station Repairs and Other Ongoing Maintenance, and Upgrade Work for Improvements on Multiple Lines

These weekend service changes are part of the MTA Subway Action Plan, station improvements in Queens and Manhattan, and ongoing maintenance, repair and upgrade work throughout the MTA New York City Transit subway system to maintain and upgrade track, signal, station and other infrastructure in order to provide customers with safe and reliable service.  More information on the 2015-2019 MTA Capital Program is available here.

This weekend, work crews will be dispersed throughout the entire subway system to perform a variety of critical tasks in the areas of track replacement and maintenance, signal modernization, station enhancements, electrical upgrades and communication improvements.  All this work is aligned with the MTA Subway Action Plan, a comprehensive plan to stabilize and modernize the subway system by attacking the key drivers of 79 percent of delay-causing major incidents and strategically targeting additional personnel and equipment to focus on critical parts of the system.

At all times until winter 2018-19, downtown trains skip 238 St due to station improvements.  As an alternative, take the Bx9 to 231 St, or take an uptown train to 242 St and transfer to a downtown . 

From 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, downtown trains will stop at 33 St and 23 St due to station improvements at Grand Central.  As a reminder,  service does not run in Manhattan overnight.   

At all times until December 2018, 6 trains will skip 28 St in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  The 28 St station is one of the oldest in the subway system, opening in October 1904.  For alternate service, use the nearby  stations along Park Avenue South at 33 St or 23 St.  Or, use the nearby 28 St  station on Broadway.  Local buses are also available along Lexington and Madison avenues.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, uptown trains run express from 14 St-Union Sq to Grand Central-42 St due to station enhancements at 28 St.  As an alternative, use a downtown  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Grand Central-42 St or 14 St-Union Sq.  As a reminder, the 28 St station is closed in both directions for renovations until December 2018.   

From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 and from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, trains run every 20 minutes between Eastchester-Dyre Av and Bowling Green due to station enhancements.  Beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30,  service will end early between E 180 St and Bowling Green.  Take the  or . 

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, Flushing-Main St bound  trains run express from Queensboro Plaza to 74 St-Broadway due to structural maintenance involving steel work near 61 St-Woodside.  As an alternative, use a 34 St-Hudson Yards bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at 74 St-Broadway, 61 St-Woodside, or Queensboro Plaza. 

From 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, downtown trains run local from 59 St-Columbus Circle to W 4 St-Wash Sq due to track maintenance between Jay St-MetroTech and Chambers St. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, downtown trains are rerouted via the  line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to Jay St-MetroTech to due to track maintenance between Jay St-MetroTech and Chambers St. For Spring St, Canal St and Chambers St, take the  via transfer at W 4 St.  For Fulton St, take the  to/from World Trade Center.  For High St, use the nearby York St  station.  As a reminder,  trains do not run overnight.   

From 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30,  service will end early due to track enhancements between 47-50 Sts and W 4 St.  As an alternative, take the  and/or .  As a reminder,  service does not run on weekends. 

At all times until January 2019,  trains will skip 167 St in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  As an alternative, customers are advised to use the nearby stations at 170 St , 167 St , or 161 St-Yankee Stadium.  Use the Bx1 or Bx2 along Grand Concourse and transfer to the subway at 170 St  or 161 St-Yankee Stadium with a MetroCard.  Use the Bx35 along E 167 St and transfer to the  at 167 St station with a MetroCard.  For transfers to another bus, ask the bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer, which can be used on another local bus ride within two hours.  For return trips, ask the station agent for a transfer to the bus.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here.

At all times until December 2018, trains will skip 174-175 Sts in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  As an alternative, customers are advised to use the nearby Tremont Av  or 170 St  stations.  Use the Bx1 or Bx2 along Grand Concourse and transfer to  trains at Tremont Av or 170 St with a MetroCard.  For either station, customers transferring to another bus can ask the driver for a MetroCard Bus Transfer, which can be used on another local bus ride within two hours.  For return trips, ask the station agent at the Tremont Av  or 170 St  station for a transfer to the bus.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, and listing of nearby bus routes, click here. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, uptown trains skip 155 St, 161 St-Yankee Stadium, and 170 St due to station enhancements at 167 St and 174-175 Sts.  As an alternative, use a downtown  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Tremont Av or 145 St.  As a reminder, the 167 St and 174-175 Sts  stations are closed for renovations.  

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound trains skip DeKalb Av and run express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 36 St due to track and switch maintenance near DeKalb Av.  As an alternative, use a Manhattan-bound , or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at 36 St or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.  Overnight  trains will not run between Whitehall St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr this weekend.      

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Manhattan-bound trains skip 65 St, Northern Blvd, 46 St, Steinway St and 36 St due to track maintenance.  As an alternative, use a Jamaica Center-bound  or Manhattan-bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Roosevelt Av.  Manhattan-bound  trains will run local during the late nights. 

At all times until December 2018,  trains will skip 57 St in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from new station entrances enhanced with digital signage providing real-time information, countdown clocks, new railings or canopies, and brighter, more energy-efficient lighting, upgraded turnstile areas with glass barriers, security cameras, new information centers and digital dashboards.  Platforms will be outfitted with new platform edge warning strips, accessible boarding areas, new seating furniture, digital dashboards with wayfinding information and new countdown clocks.  For alternate service, use nearby stations at 57 St-7 Av , 5 Av/59 St , 7 Av , 5 Av/53 St , or 47-50 Sts .  Local buses are also available along Fifth Avenue, Sixth Avenue and 57^th Street.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, and listing of nearby bus routes, click here. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec 3, free shuttle buses replace trains between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av due to track maintenance near Ditmas Av.   trains will run between 179 St and Church Av.  Free shuttle buses will make all  line station stops between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.  Transfer between trains and shuttle buses at Church Av.  For service between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Stillwell Av, take the  or . 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Brooklyn-bound trains run local from Forest Hills-71 Av to 21 St-Queensbridge overnight due to track maintenance.  Jamaica-bound  trains are rerouted via the  line after 47-50 St to Roosevelt Av.  For Lexington Av/63 St, take the  via transfer at 34 St-Herald Sq.  To Roosevelt Island and 21 St-Queensbridge, take the  to Roosevelt Island and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound .  From these stations, take a Brooklyn-bound  to 47-50 Sts and transfer to a Jamaica-bound .   

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, downtown trains skip 14 St due to track maintenance.  As an alternative, use a 179 St-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at W 4 St-Wash Sq or 34 St-Herald Sq.  As a reminder, the 57 St  station is closed for renovations until December 2018.    

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, free shuttle buses replace trains between Nassau Av and Court Sq due to station enhancements at Greenpoint Av.   trains will run between Nassau Av and Church Av.  Free shuttle buses will make all  line station stops between Nassau Av and Court Sq.  Transfer between trains and free shuttle buses at Nassau Av. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov 30. to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, free shuttle buses and/or  replace  trains between Hewes St and Broad St due to structural improvements.  MTA New York City Transit is continuing its accelerated schedule of proactive weekend track maintenance and repairs, as well as station improvements to widen stairs, turnstile areas or points of entrance/exit and transfer, on the  lines this winter to ensure safe and reliable service when the  train tunnel reconstruction begins in April 2019 and the  line operates as a Brooklyn-only service. 

To accelerate track work and station improvements at Marcy Av, crews will require total track or station access.  This weekend,  trains will not run between Hewes St and Broad St in either direction.   trains will run between Jamaica Ctr and Hewes St in both directions.  Free shuttle buses will run between Hewes St and Delancey-Essex Sts.  Transfer between trains and buses at Hewes St and/or Delancey-Essex Sts .  For service between Delancey-Essex Sts and Broad St, use the  to/from nearby stations via transfer at Bleecker St/B’way-Lafayette St.  Transfer to/from the  at Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.  For service to/from Manhattan, use  or  via transfer at Broadway Junction.  For upcoming scheduled work on select weekends in December, click here. 

Beginning 8:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, M service will end early between 71 Av and Myrtle Av due to structural improvements along the  lines. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov 30. to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec 3, free shuttle buses and/or  trains replace  service between Delancey-Essex Sts and Myrtle Av due to structural improvements along the  lines.   trains will run between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av.  For service between Myrtle Av and Hewes St, take the .  For service between Hewes St and Delancey-Essex Sts, use free shuttle buses.     

At all times until Spring 2019, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, and 20 Av, due to station rehabilitation work on the Sea Beach Line.  When finished, this will yield a better travel experience for customers, including the installation of elevators at 8 Av and New Utrecht Av stations, providing mobility impaired customers with better accessibility, upgraded communication systems, installation of Help Point intercoms, new stairways and handrails, reconstructed platforms and overpasses, repairs to canopies and columns, and artwork.  For service to these stations, use a Manhattan-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Bay Pkwy or 8 Av.  For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the  instead.  Transfer between  and  trains at 36 St. 

At all times until July 2019, trains will run local in both directions between 59 St and 36 St in Brooklyn due to structural rehabilitation work to repair and replace steel columns, lighting, ventilators, and deteriorated concrete, and perform water mitigation work to address water seepage in the express tunnel between the 59 St and 36 St stations.   trains will stop at 53 St and 45 St in both directions.

At all times until February 2019, trains will skip Broadway and 39 Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs. There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  For alternate service, use the nearby open Astoria line stations at 30 Av, 36 Av, or Queensboro Plaza via the Q102 bus.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov 30. to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec 3, downtown trains skip 49 St due to stations improvements.  As an alternative, use an uptown  local or  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Times Sq-42 St or 57 St-7 Av. 

From 10:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Brooklyn-bound trains are rerouted via the  (Manhattan Bridge) from Canal St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, skipping DeKalb Av due to track and switch maintenance near DeKalb Av.  For service to City Hall, Cortlandt St, Rector St, Whitehall St, Court St, Jay St-MetroTech and DeKalb Av, take the  via transfer at Canal St or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.  Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains will run via the  line (Lower Manhattan).  As a reminder, overnight  trains will not run between Whitehall St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr this weekend.

From 10:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains are rerouted via the  (Lower Manhattan) from Canal St to DeKalb Av due to track maintenance.  Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains will stop at City Hall, Cortlandt St, Rector St, Whitehall St, Court St and Jay St-MetroTech. 

From 9:45 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, and from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2, Brooklyn-bound  trains are rerouted via the  line from 36 St, Queens to 57 St-7 Av due to track maintenance.  For Queens Plaza station, take the  instead.  For Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby 59 St  station via transfer at Lexington Av/53 St  or 14 St-Union Square .  Transfer at Times Sq-42 St/Port Authority  or Roosevelt Av .
