Media Advisory: Big Bend Preserve Opening and Ribbon Cutting

Moreau Lake State Park

When:  Thursday, July 11, 2024, 10 a.m.

Who:  New York State Parks Commissioner Pro Tempore Randy Simons, Regional Director Alane Ball Chinian with elected representatives and park partners including Saratoga County Horse Association

What:  Join the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation at the opening of Big Bend Preserve, part of Moreau Lake State Park. It is an 860-acre former logging area that features six miles of easy trails for walking, horseback-riding, birding and access to the Hudson River shoreline.

Moreau Lake State Park will become one of the 10 largest State Parks in New York State. The land is undergoing ecological restoration to promote native species and habitats, notably the Karner Blue Butterfly, an endangered species that requires specific conditions to flourish.

Where:  110 Old Bend Road, Fort Edward, NY  12828. The parking lot is roughly 1000' down on the left.
