Public Comment Period on the CWM Landfill Proceeding Extended To October 20

The Facility Siting Board and Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens extended the public comment period by 45 days for CWM’s application to construct and operate a new landfill at the company’s existing facility in the Towns of Porter and Lewiston, Niagara County, DEC announced today. Due to extensive public interest and requests for additional time to comment on the permit application, the public can now submit comments until October 20, 2014.

Comments may be submitted by mail to Chief Administrative Law Judge James T. McClymonds, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Office of Hearings and Mediation Services, 625 Broadway, 1st Floor, Albany, New York 12233-5500.  Comments may also be submitted via email address to CWM.RWMUNIT2@dec.ny.gov.

In addition, the date for the filing of petitions for party status is extended from September 30, 2014 to October 20, 2014.  Petitions must now be received at the DEC’s Office of Hearings and Mediation Services no later than 4 p.m. on October 20, 2014.
