New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner RoAnn Destito today announced the annual New York State Holiday Tree Lighting at the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office Building Plaza will be held on Thursday, December 6. An evening full of free indoor and outdoor family fun and live entertainment, including performances from local and national talent, a visit from Santa, craft making, giveaways, and free hot chocolate, courtesy of Starbucks will begin at 6 p.m.

“OGS is excited to present this special lineup of performers and activities planned for this longtime tradition of lighting a tree at the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office Building Plaza in Harlem,” Commissioner Destito said. “Governor Cuomo and I hope the tree is a welcome addition to the holiday atmosphere that the community and visitors enjoy at this time of year. I also want to thank our sponsors for making this event possible.”

As part of Governor Cuomo’s efforts to bring upstate agricultural products to downstate markets, this year’s New York State-grown tree comes from Domes Farm in Bliss, Wyoming County.

The public is invited to bring their family and friends to this free event, which is being arranged by promoters Greg Mays of Harlem Presents and Scotty Flash of In From the Storm. A special thanks to Harlem Mothers S.A.V.E. for providing volunteer “elves” for the event.
