MEDIA ADVISORY: Thursday August 10, 2017 – 2:00 P.M.

DEC COMMISSIONER SEGGOS AND LOCAL OFFICIALS TOUR PROGRESS OF DRILLING UNDERWAY TO ANALYZE CONTAINMENT OPTIONS OF NAVY/GRUMMAN CONTAMINATION PLUME.

Governor Cuomo has directed the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to fully analyze containment options of the Navy/Grumman plume.  A DEC contractor is currently installing the first of two deep groundwater monitoring wells in Nassau County to generate important data to advance the ongoing analysis.  On Thursday, Commissioner Basil Seggos and other local partners and officials will oversee drilling operation and tour the progress being made to protect the public and the environment from this industrial contamination.

Location: 1025 Seamans Neck Rd Wantagh, NY. DOT maintenance facility at the intersection of Seamans Neck Road and Tollgate Lane.
