NYS OASAS OBSERVES INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY AT NEW YORK STATE FAIR

In response to the overwhelming number of people who visited the agency’s booth at the New York State fair on International Overdose Awareness Day, August 31, the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) is informing the public that they can receive free naloxone kits and naloxone training classes online. A list of upcoming virtual training events can be found here, with information on how to obtain naloxone and prevent overdoses here

OASAS Commissioner Dr. Chinazo Cunningham encourages New Yorkers to remember that overdose is an issue we must address 365 days a year. Information about OASAS services and supports are available round the clock at the agency website, and through the free New York State HOPEline by calling 1-877-8-HOPENY, or by texting 467369.

Full video package and soundbites can be viewed on YouTube and are available for download here.
