The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Department of Health, and Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services will discuss the impacts and State’s response to smoke from wildfires in Canada and high temperatures that are creating unhealthy air conditions in New York. The current air quality forecast is “Unhealthy” in the Eastern Lake Ontario, Central New York, and Western New York regions and “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” for the rest of the state, with the potential for continued or worsening conditions over the next couple of days.
