NCAA Announces DIII All-Americans, Player and Coach of the Year2013 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Frozen Four Begins Tomorrow in Lake Placid |

MEN’S DIVISION II-III CCM HOCKEY ALL-AMERICANS ANNOUNCED LAKE PLACID, N.Y.— Nineteen different schools — including all four participating this weekend in the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship in Lake Placid, N.Y. — can boast 13 CCM Division III Men's Hockey All-American selections in the starry squads announced this evening at the Championship's student-athlete banquet. NCAA semifinalists Oswego State, Norwich, and UW-Eau Claire lead the way with three selections each, as does Hobart College and St. Norbert College. The fourth NCAA semifinalist, Utica College, has one honoree. Senior forward Zach Graham of Adrian College is the only repeat first team selection from 2012. Of the 30 All-Americans, 18 are from the United States, 11 are from Canada, and one is from Sweden. The two leading sources are Ontario (6) and Massachusetts (5). For more information see attachment The CCM HOCKEY ALL-AMERICAN ICE HOCKEY TEAMS are sponsored by CCM HOCKEY and chosen by members of the AMERICAN PAUL RODRIGUES IS D-III ICE HOCKEY PLAYER of the YEAR Sid Watson Award Winner is First from SUNYAC LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Senior forward Paul Rodrigues of SUNY Oswego has been chosen by the nation's ice hockey coaches as the 2013 winner of the Sid Watson Award, symbolic of the nation's best Division III men's ice hockey player. The 5-10, 170-pound native of Etobicoke, Ontario, has helped Oswego to a 24-4-0 record and a berth in this weekend's NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship at Lake Placid, NY. Oswego advanced to the semifinals with a 3-2 overtime win over Adrian College last weekend. They face Norwich University on Friday. For more information see attachment.
Edward Jeremiah Award to be Presented on May 4 in Naples, Fla. LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire head coach Matt Loen has done what no other coach has done in school history – guided his team to the NCAA Division III Men’s Championship semifinals. In fact, his 2013 team is the first in school history to win an NCAA playoff game and win a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association regular-season championship. And for his efforts, Loen has been named the winner of the Edward Jeremiah Award, given to the NCAA Division III Men’s Coach of the Year. For more information see attachment. |
